The U.S. is meeting its first black woman as the new secretary of State. President George W. Bush chose White House National security Advisor Condoleeza Rice as the successor to the resigned Secretary of State Colin Powell (left). In July 2002, Advisor Rice is stroking Powell’s cheek before a meeting in the White House.
