33rd Memorial Service for Silmido Casualties

On August 22 near the Yuhan-yanghang building, Dong-jak, Seoul, the bereaved of the Silmido casualties, who are also members of the Truth Finding Committee of the Silmido Accident, are attending a street memorial service dedicated to the commanders of the 684 Unit who were killed in August 1971. They ran away from Silmido (an island located near Incheon) on August 23, 1971 in the middle of their training, and back then the government denounced them as “secret agents sent by North Korea.”
