Prime Minister Goh Kun was known to have expressed his intention to refuse his office as the impeachment against President Roh Moo-hyun was revoked on May 14.

Goh visited Chong Wa Dae and noticed his resignation after reporting the cases which he handled during his two months as acting president to President Roh on that day.

People close to the prime minister said, “As far as I know, Goh will announce his resignation although he will leave the submission and acceptance of his resignation up to President Roh.” Prime Minister Goh expressed his intention to resign, saying that he would leave if the political situation is rescued since President Roh’s re-confidence announcement. Goh was originally planning to go to a university in the U.S. to study after his resignation, but an associate said that he would stay at home for a while because his father, Dr. Goh Hyung-kon, is not well.
