New Zealand Ambassador to Korea David Taylor visited North Korea last week, and expressed worry over the nuclear crisis and the Japanese hostages, according to New Zealand Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Phil Goff on May 11.

Goff, who is visiting Japan, revealed this at the meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi. He said Taylor particularly urged the North to solve the hostage issue.

Kawaguchi expressed his gratitude, according to officials from the Japanese Foreign Ministry. New Zealand is in diplomatic relationship with Japan, and its Ambassador to Korea holds the Ambassador to North Korea position as well.
