Japanese Troops in 1905 and U.S. forces in 2004

The New York Times compared a photo (left) in which Koreans are being tortured by Japanese soldiers in 1905 to a photo in which U.S. soldiers are mistreating Iraqi prisoners in Abu Ghraib Prison in an article titled: “100 years ago and Today,” on May 9. The newspaper explained that “Japanese soldiers whipped Koreans in order to get confessions in 1905, and U.S. troops in Iraq are blamed for mistreating prisoners now.”
