Xinhua News reports that North Korean and Chinese authorities have announced that they will begin a seven-day service at their cross-border checkpoint between Nasun City in Ham Kyoung Province and Hunchun City in Jilin Province on April 18.

According to authorities, both sides came to this agreement based on increasing human exchange and trade between checkpoints. Currently, these checkpoints are open only six days a week.

The Quanhe checkpoint is the province’s largest road connection point, handling 40 percent of the total passengers and goods for the province.

The Quanhe boundary gate between Hunchun City and Pangchan City is the first door from the east side of the border. Nasun City is North Korea’s designated free-trade area facing Hunchun City.
