Absentee vote for the 17th general election will be carried out in 500 polling places nationwide for two days from April 9 to April 10.

With 885,936 absentee voters, the absentee ballot will be held from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. over the two days.

Eligible voters for the absentee ballot should bring an envelope enclosed with two ballot papers that they received from the National Election Commission (NEC) and a certificate of residence or other identification cards so that they can vote in their nearby absentee polling place. The ballot paper should not be impaired but should be brought to the booth as it is, and the voter has to cast the vote in the balloting booth. Balloting paper with the vote already marked at home is considered as an invalid ballot. Moreover, eligible voters who are chosen as special voters and unable to go to the polling places due to inevitable health conditions can use non-erasable pens and mark “O” as their vote in their homes, hospitals, and other places. Then, they have to enclose envelope with the balloting paper inside and sign their signatures in the upper, middle, and the lower part of the envelope and send it to the NEC’s address so that it could be delivered until April 15 at 6 p.m.
