Statutory limitation is not expected to be applied to anti-humanitarian crimes such as massive killings, torture, and others.

The Justice Ministry introduced a “bill regarding punishment on the crimes under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court” based on this on April 6. This legislative bill is set up in order to also implement the “Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court” in Korea.

If the bill becomes effective, statutory limitations would not apply to the crimes under the jurisdiction of the ICC such as crimes against humanity, war crimes, genocide attempting to destroy the whole or part of the people, peoples, race, religious community, and government-involved torture.
