Hyundai beat Woori Bank to jump to the third place, recording a third consecutive win.
Hyundai met Woori Bank at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul on July 31 and beat Woori 61-56, with Kim Young-ok scoring 17 points and making 5 rebounds in the second half of the game.
With the victory, Hyundai boosted its winning percentage to 50%, jumping to the third place following Samsung Lice and Shinsegae. It was a second consecutive loss for Woori, however.
Kim Young-ok led her team`s victory. Having setting a personal record of 3,100 points a day earlier, she had hard times in the first half, unable to score a single point facing tight defense. Kim came back strong, however, in the second half. She scored 12 points including a game-turning long shot in the forth quarter alone.
After finishing the first half 32-29 led by veteran player Jun Joo-won, Hyundai was overtaken by Woori in the third quarter by 41-42 as its foreign center Walters remained on bench. They nailed down their victory by 61-54 only a minute ahead of the finishing call, with Kim scoring long shots at every critical moment.
Woori failed to take advantage of their height and had difficulties scoring points, with hitting only 23% of three-point long shots and 38% of free throws.
