“We think this may be the last chance in our high school days. So, we got together and did it,” said Choi Jin Tak, a young pitcher chosen as best player at the 57th National High School Baseball Series.
In the final round, he had three hits in a row including a come-from-behind hit in the 8th inning, pivotal to the team’s victory.
His record is 20 at bats, 10 hits and 4 RBIs in five games.
“He is not a conspicuous player, but has a higher hitting rate with a solid contribution to the team. As a number one hitter, he also has excellent leadership,” said coach Jang Ho-yeon.
He thinks Choi`s accuracy in timing is his best merit as a hitter.
Last winter, Choi learned good defense as well as foot walks from LG`s Yoo Ji-hyun, Choi`s hero. He also learned to use his lower body when at bat from Samsung’s Lee Seung-yeop.
“This is my day. I cannot still believe it. I am too happy,” said Choi who first started baseball when he was 12. He said that he would do his best to be selected as a professional player within the next four years.
