Deadly Earthquake Hits China, Killing 160 People

Accroding to AP and AFP, a powerful earthquake measured 6.8 on the Richter scale struck China`s northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on the 24th, killing at least 160 people and injuring 1,000 other people.

According to the officials, the earthquake struck at 10:03 a.m. an area around Jiashi city of Uygur Autonomous Region which is about 2,900 kilometers west of Beijing region.

The exact casualties are not known yet, and the death toll is expected to rise.

Army soldiers and other rescue workers have troubles due to the aftershocks.
