In the morning, on January 30, ADSL super-high speed internet service of KT was disconnected or interrupted for 1~4 hours in some regions.

KT said, “There was a fault in Giga switch owing to a congestion of traffic around 5:40 a.m. It was turned on in all areas between 6:30 a.m. and 9:25 a.m. after an emergency recovery was completed.”

There were 11 failed telephone offices of Seoul, Guro, Budaegu, Seogwangju, Daejeon, Suwon, Bucheon, Mokpo, Hadang, Bukjeonju, Iksan and Jeju.

An official of KT said, “Among 48 nationwide ADSL toll centers extended from the super high speed internet backbone network, there were the congestion of traffic in 11 ADSL toll centers. So, we blocked the said port. There is no any failure in DSN service which brought the internet paralysis.”

Besides, at that day, the Ministry of Information and Communication(MIC) considered that there could be a virus of `Trojan Horse` as the traffic of certain ports used in the internet chatting program increases. Then, the MIC announced an attention prediction of `Trojan Horse`.

`Trojan Horse` is the virus which counterfeits a normal program and infiltrates the other computer. Besides, the government decided to construct a national cooperation system participated by experts of the information protection-related institutes such as the MIC, National Intelligence Service (NIS), the prosecution and the police, to prevent a reoccurrence of the similar incident with an opportunity of `1·25 Internet interruption`.
