LG Electronics announced on the 27th that it will introduce a duel band/duel mode device (LG-K8100) which can be used both under synchronous cdma2000 1x which is serviced now in South Korea and asynchronous W-CDMA which will be serviced from this June.

The cellular phone with 2.2” TFT-LCD of 2.6 million colors and an internal camera of 3 million pixels is offered to KTICOM as a test device, said LG Electronics.

KTF will be merged with KTICOM by March and start W-CDMA test service from April and then begin to offer commercial service.

As LG Electronics provides LG-K8100 to KTICOM, the problem of device supply which was a main obstacle for KTICOM to begin its W-CDMA commercial service is settled.

LG Electronics said, “This is first DBDM cell-phone in the world, which can be used under both synchronous cdma2000 1x and asynchronous W-CDMA.”
