Strong ‘Korea Dream Team’ organizing by the Korean woman pro golfers

In Hanna CC(72 parts) near Osaka, Japan on December 8, 2002 Maruhan Cup of Korea-Japan Woman Pro Golfer Championship(total prize-money of 45 million yen) was held. On the previous day, Korea had 6 wins, 2 draws and 4 losses in a single hole match play. Korea had 14 scores defeated the Japan which had 10 scores. After that, 12 Korean woman golfers competed in the stroke match play and added 16 scores again with 8 wins and 4 losses.

Korea had 14 wins, 2 draws and 8 losses(30 scores) for two days, Korea won the championship with a difference of 12 scores. This is the first time that Korea won the championship. Lost the 1st and 2nd championship in Japan, the Korean team won this championship including the Park Se-ri, Kim Mi-hyun and Park Ji-eu. Korea won 28 million yen and Japan won 14 million yen for the prize money.

Park Se-ri didn’t yield even one hole and had the consecutive wins with 4 under par for two days. She became the best player selected by the press of both countries and won the round ticket from Seoul to LA as a supplementary prize. Also she won the prize of 750000 yen granted to the two wins player.

Ku Ok-hee (46) was defeated by Ogamoto Yakowa at that day.

However, ‘Super Rookie’ Lee Mi-na and Kang Su-yeon had the win. After that, Kim Mi-hyun and Park Ji-eun defeated Gubo Mikino and Hujii Gaseumi respectively by a score of 24-14.

Conclusively, Park Se-ri won the game. She reduced four strokes with 6 birdies and 2 bogey, and so defeated Hukusima Akiko adding two scores. Lee Mi-Na won 500,000 won as a daily best of 5 under par.

Recording 1 win and 2 losses in the historical result, Korea will have the fourth game with Japanese team in Pinx GC, Jeju in the next December.
