As the women’s community has requested to allocate a certain rate of an appointment and election to women and the president candidates commit themselves to such a request, Kookmin Bank has firstly applied the woman assignment system to the promotion personnel.

On December 3, Kookmin Bank announced that it allocated 20%(347 persons) to women among promoting personnel of Staff·Assistant Manager (L1)→Section Chief (L2) in a regular promotion conducted on November 28.

Among the prior promoting personnel of the section chief (former assistant manager), the rate of women doubles or triples 8∼9% of former Kookmin Bank and 6∼7% of former Housing & Commercial Bank.

In the past, female staff was hardly promoted in spite of excellent capacity, but the promotions of female staff which has been in 4~5 pay steps less than the average pay step of the promoting staff have been extended owing to the woman assignment system this time.

Yu Jae-Hong, head of personnel team, Kookmin Bank added, “Some male staff complained of reverse distinction, but we will support the female personnel by applying the woman assignment system continuously.”

The number of female staff promoted as high official such as a vice chief, manager and branch manager was 50 persons and 10 persons. It was a small part of total 1676 staff and 500 staff. It was because the number of female staff subject to the promotion was very small.

As Kookmin Bank has introduced this system after the president candidates have pledged to implement the woman assignment system, such the system will be extended to a public and private sections rapidly.
