The US President George W. Bush said he would cooperate with the allies on the North Korean nuclear development problems by saying in a news conference that he held for the first time since winning the interim election on the 7th, We initially taking different strategies against North Korea than Iraq.
The President Bush said that to a reporter in the White House that day and also said, Our strategy is to convince North Korea in cooperation with the neighboring countries that the nuclear development through highly enriched uranium does not coincide with the interest of the World.
He, then, went on to say, We have been discussing this problem with our Korean and Japanese friends and Chinese leaders, and I will discuss with Bladmir Putin (the Russian President) about this after coming back from the NATO Summit.
In the meantime, the US Secretary of State Collin Powell asked North Korea to abandon the nuclear development program during a news conference with the AP and suggested to use the inspection method against Iraq to North Korea by saying, In order to verify that, we must be able to go, see, and touch it.
The Secretary Powell said that the North Korean missile program as well as the North Korean nuclear program must be abandoned and it must be verified in a way to settle down the worries of the international society.
He predicted that it would take months to finally settle the problems related to chemical and biological weapons and nuclear programs with the President Sadam Hussein and stressed that like Iraq North Korea must disarm herself.
