Golden Love Song Dedicated to Wife

Yang Sung-chan (34, Seoul Facilities Management Corporation) gained an unexpected gold medal at the Wushu competition at Dongseo University in Busan at 12th put the medal on the neck of his wife with tearful eyes. It was a strange game for us and even the gain of bronze medal was considered impossible, so the gain was joyful. However, further joy was that he rewarded to his Chinese wife who has supported faithfully in foreign country for her husband.

Yang Sung-chan’ Chinese wife, Mun Gam-hong (32), attended the game as an assistant judge and looked at the game anxiously.

They met as teacher and student at first. Yang Sung-chan who has been interested in martial arts since childhood dedicated in Wushu after entering Cheju Junior College in 1987. In 1995, he was selected as a national player and went to China, the suzerain of Wushu, for short-term course of two months at a martial arts center in Beijing to learn more. Their fortunate meeting began at that time.

Mun is a daughter of Mun Wheipyung (63), the master of Wushu and a professor of Beijing University. She was the exclusive coach for Yang Sung-chan at that time, when she just began to assume the leadership after resigning from a player on the active list.

Yang Sung-chan was attracted to Mun, who was looking after him minutely, and she also had a good feeling toward him, who was earnest for Wushu. After the short-term course, they began to exchange affectionate conversations by letters and calls. They married in December of 1997 with love overcoming national border.

His wife taught him after he was selected as national player. When her husband came back home at weekend after entering the Taenung Training Center, she corrected his Wushu form as a strict teacher rather than thoughtful wife. With this effort, Korea gained the first gold medal from Wushu. Moon is at the head of spreading Wushu by opening Wushu Martial arts Academy in Shinchun of Seoul. Yang Sung-chan will resign from 8 years of a national player and begin to teach younger players.

For the question, ‘Did you bring tears in your eyes as your husband gained gold medal?’ she replied, “Remaining calm is the Wushu’s teaching” and added, “I am proud of my husband who has overcome many difficulties.”
