Keen Competition in Mobile Phone

‘No more mobile phone with only a voice call.’

There is keen competition in the advanced mobile phone such as Video on Demand (VOD), very high-speed data communication and visual call. Portable telephone is changed as a personal advanced information appliance which can see a movie, news and can use the high-speed internet.

With Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) 3D service (EV-DO) which can send and receive data at the maximum 2.4Mbps as a starter, the mobile phone with the advanced function will be popularized rapidly.

▽ Keen Competition of VOD Function 〓 VOD service which can see a music video, movie and news through the mobile screen is the core contents of 3D mobile phone.

Samsung Electronics has recently launched the terminal (model name: SCH-V300) which can receive a color animation VOD contents with a real time re-broadcasts . Also, it has the reservation download which can see if required through downloading VOD contents at midnight of low data traffic.

LG Electronics has launched EV-DO Terminal (LG-KH5000) of download mode VOD function. Users can see the animation of 12 frames definition per second. LG Electronics will apply the real time VOD function used only for asynchronous IMT-2000, to products for EV-DO within the year.

▽ visual calling & TV-receiving terminal 〓Mobile phone visual call is the service which is made in IMT-2000 with 2㎓ band frequency. However, the mobile phone companies succeeded in developing the terminal with the above functions.

With the visual calling terminal (SCH-V310) launched by Samsung Electronics, users can talk over the phone looking each other through liquid crystal. It can see own and other person’s faces in screen through ‘’screen split’ at the same time.

LG Electronics will launch the terminal with multipoint visual conference function and the visual call at the end of the year. Through its remote image relay function, it can be used to show a monitoring of house and office and vehicle accident spot to the insurance companies.

In addition, Samsung Electronics developed TV receiving phone which can be used like a portable TV, by putting TV chip to the terminal, and will launch the product to the market within the year.
