Allowing the Casino for Foreigners in Youngeui, and Mueui Area

Next year, Youngeui and Mueui area in Incheon will be appointed as Special Economic Zone (SEC) and Casinos for foreigners will be built.

On 6th of Jun, Ministry of Finance and Economy has announced that the plan to build casinos in Youngeui, and Mueui are included in the ‘Construction Plant of the Core Nations of Northeast Asia’.

They have announced, “These areas are close to Incheon international airport which will be the hub airport of the Northeast Asia, and also close to where the foreigner residence will be constructed. So this is the appropriate position. We are discussing the matter with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Currently, casinos are only allowed in Seoul, Busan and Jeju province and in Seoul, there’s only one in Sheraton Walker Hill Hotel.

The government was planning to allow more casinos in Seoul in 2000, but the public opinion against it was so strong that they had to cancel it.

Ministry of Finance and Economics has also pointed out that even if the casinos for foreigners are allowed, there will be no additional casinos in Kangwon Land.
