`Defining Dongui Uni. Incident as Democratic Movement is Incorrect

The Blue House is preparing to take measures such as revision of related laws, as it views the decision of the overview board of democratic movement reward, which recently recognized related persons of the Dongui University Incident as participants of democratic movement, as an `incorrect decision.`

Presidential spokesperson Park Sun-Suk said on May 2, `In a meeting of presidential secretaries, discussion on social repercussions of the decision has taken place. `

A related person of the Blue House relayed the atmosphere of the meeting saying, `The overview board of democratic movement reward should have recognized in a very limited way rewards for democratic movements including the Dongui University Incident, and should have considered equal treatment or rewards toward the sacrificed policemen, but neglected so far,` and added, `Presidential secretaries decided that the decision of the overview board is not so considerate.`

The related person said, `As there is currently no appellate procedure on the decision of the overview board, revision on related laws will be implemented,` but added, `As the police petitioned a constitutional review on the decision related with the Dongui University Incident, an appellate procedure following a revised law after the constitutional court decision will be strictly observed.`
