Donation to GNP Increased by 6.2 Billion Won Last Year

The total amount of the donation to the parties and lawmakers last year was 99,914 million won.

National Election Commission released the data from the accounting reports of 250 lawmakers and the parties.

The New Millennium Democratic Party had 59,691 million won donated to the party members, followed by 32,058 million won to the Grand National Party, 7,335 million won to the United Liberal Democrats, and 830 million won to the other parties and independents.

While the donation to GNP increased by 6.2 billion won compared to the previous year, NMDP and ULD suffered from 27.2 billion won decrease and 4.2 billion won decrease respectively. 250 lawmakers who formed their supportive associations last year collected 50,686 million won in total last year, recording over 204 million won donations to a lawmaker.

Rep. Han Hwa-Gap (NMDP) ranked at top, raising 731.07 million won. 8 out of 10 highest fundraisers were the lawmakers of NMDP and the rest were from GNP.
