Cho Soo-Ok Won the First Ryu Kwan-Soon Prize

Mrs. Cho Soo-Ok on the 28th was chosen for the first winner of `Ryu Kwan-Soon Prize, ` which DongA-Ilbo along with Chungcheongnam-do and Ewha women’s high school offered in order to recall the spirit of Ryu Kwan-Soon martyr.

Ryu Kwan-Soon Prize was established in July last year in order to standardize the image of modern woman by awarding a woman or women’s body who keeps the progressive and future-oriented thoughts of martyr Ryu, and contributed to the development of nation and local society.

The first winner Mrs. Cho is the president of `Inaewon, ` a social welfare foundation in Masan, Gyeongnam. She had been thrown into jail for 5 years as a political offender, who refused worship at Japanese shrine, and founded Inaewon after released, and dedicated her whole life for avoided orphans and old people.

Mrs. Cho will be given a testimonial, trophy and a prize of 10 million won. Awarding ceremony will be held at Ryu Kwan-Soon Memorial Hall in Ewha Women’s high school of Jeong-dong, Joong-gu Seoul at 2 o’clock March. 29th.
