The Prosecution commanded the Seoul District Prosecutions 2nd Special department (Park Yong-Suk, superintendent prosecutor) to investigate Shin Seung-Hwans, younger brother of former prosecution general Shin Seung-Nam, tax reduction favors granted by former National Tax Service (NTS) director Ahn Jung-Hwan.
The Prosecution is currently examining incident records handed from the Special Prosecution (SP) team, and is clarifying Ahns where-about, who left the country last November.
The Prosecution banned out-of-country departures of all individuals involved in the case and will soon summon NTS authorities and Choi (66), who is known to have given Shin 100 million won for tax reduction.
The Prosecution is to confirm whether Chois 4 billion won tax, levied by the NTS, was inappropriately calculated under pressure from former director Ahns.
Choi is known to have fled as the SP began its investigation against the case.
The Prosecution is also determined to summon and investigate Shins sister Shin Seung-Ja, who is known to have delivered Chois money after introducing him to Shin.
According to the SP, Ms. Shin delivered Chois 100 million won to Shin several times through 4 different accounts in last June.
