Palestinian Suicide Bomber Was a College Woman Student

On the 27th, a Palestinian woman launched a suicide bombing attack for the first time. On the 28th, an armed Palestinian man fired gunshots, wounding two Israelis in outer Tel Aviv. The police shot the suspicious man.

Israel assured immediate retaliation and the U.S. criticized Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat for standing by and watching the violence.

On Jaffa Street, the main commercial strip in west Jerusalem, on the 27th, a Palestinian woman carried out a bombing attack, killing 2 people and injuring around 10 people. The bomb exploded opposite of Sbarro pizza restaurant where a Hamas member had killed 15 people by suicide bombing attack in August of last year. This is the third suicide bombing attack this week. Suicide bombing attacks against Israel since 1994 number 30.

Al-Manar TV, run by the Hezbollah of Lebanon said, "The bomber was Shinaz Amuri, a female student at Al-Najah University in the West Bank town of Nablus."

Israel stressed, "Arafat encourages terrorism. We will dismantle the terrorist infrastructure."

U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney announced that Arafat is connected with recent smuggling of weapons saying, "Arafat didn`t make an effort to put an end to terrorism." It was an exceptional incident where the U.S. accused Arafat directly.
