Japan’s TV Asahi will broadcast the 2002 Donga Seoul International Marathon, and the 73rd Dong-A Marathon Rally concurrently, which will be held on March 17 as a 2002 World Cup well-wishing event, for the first time in broadcast history.

TV Asahi’s sports director Maehara Kosho (前原晃昭) visited Kwanghwa-Moon Donga Media Center, Seoul, on the 17th, and signed the Donga Marathon broadcast contract with Donga Ilbo’s business director Yim Youn-Chul. Apart from Asian rallies, this is the first time that a Japanese TV will broadcast a marathon-rally taking place in Korea.

TV Asahi will broadcast the rally nationwide through the sponsoring broadcaster KBS, and world- famous runners like Fujita Atsushi (藤田敦史·26), world’s No.1 Asian record holder (2 hours 06 min. 1 sec.), will participate in the event.

Meanwhile, Donga Seoul International Marathon confirmed its position for Asia’s top international rally as China’s CCTV is also to sign a broadcast contract.
