A General to Be Summon for Investigation on Military Purveyance Corruption

The high army prosecution office (Director Yoon Ung-Joong) summoned yesterday Brigadier General Lee (55) serving the Education Headquarters of Army to investigate on his unjust intervention in the process of selecting the construction company.

General Lee is suspected of having received bribes several times totaling about 20 million won from military goods supplier Park (59) who was arrested from 1996 when he served as a brigade commander of a construction battalion (colonel) to 1999 when he took a charge of director of construction department of the Ministry of Defense (brigadier general).

And it is known that General Lee have used his influence for a company that was sponsored by Park to receive a 3 billion won order of electric construction for bunker facilities around the metropolitan areas.

The army prosecution office will issue an arrest warrant for General Lee on suspicion of having abused his authority in return for the bribes. And it plans to summon differnt General Lee serving the First Command Headquarters of Army. He is suspected of having helped Park receive a construction order after receiving a considerable amount of bribe during his service in the Construction Battalion Office of Army.
