The tower is reopening to the public after having been closed for more than a decade to reduce its slant Dec. 15, 2001. This 58-meter tower has been under repair after its top leaned 4.5 meters off from the perpendicular angle in January, 1990. The Italian authorities succeeded to reduce its slant to 4.1 meters, costing 54 billion lira (about 33 billion won).
