President Kim Dae-Jung replaced yesterday the second vice-chief of the National Intelligence Service (NIS), who has been suspected of receiving 10 million won from vice-president of Dongbang Geumgo Lee Kyung-Ja in relation to the `Chung Hyun-Joon Gate`.

Head presidential information secretary Oh Hong-Keun announced that President Kim accepted Kim Eun-Sung`s resignation yesterday afternoon and the successor would be appointed soon.

A high ranking official in Cheong Wa Dae said, ``Although vice-chief Kim`s corruption suspicion was not verified, he already lost the leadership by the fact that he was suspected.`` Regarding the prosecution`s investigation in relation to Kim`s suspicion of receiving money, the official said that the prosecution would make the decision.

Vice-chief Kim reportedly told the chief of the NIS, Shin-Gun, on Wednesday afternoon that he would resign. However, it was reported that Kim strongly denied his connection with the `Chung Hyun-Joon Gate` including the acceptance of 10 million won from vice-president Lee, and that he would take a legal action to prove his innocence.
