The government decided to establish Korea Aviation Administration in this year to increase the efficacy of the aviation administration and to strengthen the security management.

The Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs notifies the legislation of the revised government organization law including the establishment of Korea Aviation Administration and will complete the establishment in the year if the bill is approved by the National Assembly. The Ministry of Construction and Transportation revealed that KAA would be composed of the current Civil Aviation Bureau, Seoul Regional Aviation Office, Pusan Regional Aviation Office, and Air Control Center.

When KAA launches, the Ministry of Construction and Transportation will take part of the aviation policymaking and the rest of administrative works such as aviation technology, airport facilities management, and safety control.

The government will not increase the total number of related officials after the establishment of KAA, by reorganizing the current 797 officials.

The New launch of KAA was stimulated by the indication of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) that the flight safety has been endangered because Korea does not have an independent aviation organization.
