Korea – Waseda University Agree on Joint Degree Programs

President Kim Jeong-Bae of Korea University and Ukushima Dakayashi, the President of Waseda University met with each other in the Headquarter of Korea University to discuss the measures for the academic exchange and reached an agreement on 6 articles including fund raising.

The two schools agreed to raise fund for the academic exchange and Kim Byung-Kwan, the chairperson of Korea Joong Ang Educational Institute contributed 500 million won.

The two schools agreed to provide a joint degree when the exchange of students and professors are promoted enough. They will establish a sub-committee to discuss the details to carry out the agreement.

The two schools also agreed to provide a joint summer session and Korea University will open a lecture corresponding to the `modern Korea` which is provided by the Open Education Center of Waseda University. Waseda University, Korea University, and Beijing University will move to establish a consortium to increase the exchange programs among the three universities. To promote the exchange programs, the two schools will open an office for this project in each school. In addition, Korea University will establish Modern Japan Institute to improve Korea-Japan relationship in the future.
