The number of cholera infections has increased to 116 with the 6 cases confirmed yesterday. Passing over 113 cases in 1991, this figure marked the most cases since 1980 (145 cases).

The National Institute of Health said that the additional 6 patients,--four of them from Youngcheon City, Kyongbuk Province, one from Youngduk-Gun, and one from Daegu,--were confirmed to have cholera after using a restaurant `25 Hours Plaza` in Yeongcheon.

65 people are currently under medical surveillance due to the symptoms associated with cholera. Among them, 39 patients were negative and 26 patients are under the medical inspection. The secondary infected patients were 5, and there was no additional case.
