Lee Hui Chang, the leader of Grand Natiional Party said on the 23rd, ``If trust and truth are the conditions for the talks, I am willing to meet the President on behalf of the people.``

At a press conference, Lee said ``If we can find any clue for resolving the current political crisis, I am willing to meet the President at any time.`` He also added, ``But I doubt whether the ruling party is willing to have a trustworthy conference, considering the political conspiracy and absence of the suggestions for the talks so far.``

Lee`s comment draws attention since it implies he is willing to hold the summit if Chong Hwa Dae and the Democrats officially apologize for the denunciations against him.

Lee also commented on the arrest of the major stockholders of the news media companies, saying ``Current law prohibits arrest during investigation, thus, to arrest them is to threaten them and constitutes a typical suppression of the press. It is not too late for the President to turn away from his entourages who controlled the tax evasion incident and go back to his original aim.``

On the 8.15 grand festival for people’s unification, Lee commented ``This incident happened because of the calamitous approval of a civil organization who should not go to the North. The government should take responsibility on this incident, and there should be proper legal punishment for those who violated law.``
