Mr. Hwang Jang-Yop May Visit U.S. after Fall

Yang Seung-Chul, Korean ambassador in the U.S., visited Rep. Clark Christopher Cox, chairperson of the Policy Committee, and delivered the Korean government position on the matter of the Mr. Hwang`s visit to the U.S.

Ambassador Yang explained that ``the matter of Mr. Hwang`s visit will be resolved by the full discussion by the authorities of both sides. The Korean government will allow his trip to the U.S. when Korea and the U.S. reach an agreement on his security.

Chairperson Cox agreed that the matter of Mr. Hwang`s visit has to be resolved by the discussion of Korea and the U.S.

Consequently, Mr. Hwang visit to the U.S., which was planned on July 20 by the Defense Forum Foundation, Rep. Cox, and Rep. Hyde, seems that it will be postponed until this fall.

Ambassador Yang will also meet Rep. Henry Hyde, chairperson of the International relations, to explain the position of the Korean government on July 18.
