Oversize Taxi Built For Nine People

Oversize Taxis that can accommodate nine people will begin their operation in Seoul.

For convenience of passengers, Seoul City decided to begin operation of 276 oversize taxis built for nine people. The city will have a ceremony to celebrate the beginning of the operation at the Wedding Culture Center in the Olympic Park. Two models, Starex produced by Hyundai and Carnival by Kia, have been determined as the models of the oversize taxis. Installation of a simultaneous translation system, a receipt printer, and a credit-card reader will be required for all oversize taxis

The fare has been decided with the basic fee of 3,000 won (3 km) which is the same fare of the deluxe taxis. And there will be no additional outside-city-border charge or late-night charge.

After operating 192 independent and 84 company taxis, the city will add 43 company taxis before the end of July depending on the outcome.
