President Kim Dae-Jung said on 19th, ``our unfortunate political situation that has been controlled by the perverse regional sentiment has not yet been fixed.``

At the Cheongwadae luncheon table with 200 government employees, who had contributed to prevent the spread of the foot and mouth disease and forest fires, President Kim regretfully said, ``whenever an election season comes, the regional sentiment gets more serious as to say that the sentiment has become the second nationality of Korean people.``

President Kim stressed, ``the biggest problem is the politicians who are looking to be benefited by the regional sentiment. Thus, to resolve the problem, we must not elect those who bring about the sentiment whether they are lawmakers or a president.`` ``If people continue to cast votes on the basis of the regional sentiment, there is no way to solve the problem``, he added.
