A woman in her 60s died after donating her entire property of 1000 million won ($ 0.1 million), which she saved throughout her life.

Korea National Red Cross (KNRC) announced on 11th that Moon Bok-Nam (63), who passed away due to diabetes and kidney failure, donated the market price of 1000 million won building to KNRC.

KNRC said that Moon donated her property, which she made through her beauty shop business, out of her wish to help less fortunate people in stead of inheriting it to her own children. Moon’s husband, Kim Hyung-Ho (78. Bun dong, Kang-buk ku, Seoul), who was also suffering from cancer, was also reported to have agreed with his wife without hesitation.

Moon’s good deeds was not open to the public because Moon sincerely asked not to reveal her donation until she passed away in a donation ceremony held on May 3rd.

A KNRC official said that ‘Moon has been doing various social services for 20 years, such as establishing a scholarship for youths who are in charge of family’s living wage earning, taking care of disabled children in her own house and even leading them into marriage’.

Meanwhile, her second son Kim Dong-Kyu (35. businessman), said that ‘My mother showed us, her seven children, how to love our neighbors not by word, but by action by always taking bus and helping others with her saving. We all agreed to follow our parents’ way of living even if we can’t fully live up to it.
