The National Assembly opens on Monday to conduct interpellations of the administration on political issues.

The Millennium Democratic Party leadership instructed its members to refrain from discussing overtures for constitutional reform made recently by a few presidential aspirants within the party. The Grand National Party plans to oppose a change in the basic law, as it believes the issue was broached as part of tactics to realign political parties and promote presidential contenders within the government party. Debates are likely to heat up between the two camps over the issue. Interpellations will continue through April 12 on matters like foreign policy, security, unification, economy, social welfare and culture.
