FBI agent Robert Philip Hanssen, 56, a Chicago native who joined the FBI in 1976, was recently arrested on suspicions that he spied for Russia for more than 15 years. Originally an investigator of white-collar crimes, he was transferred to the FBI`s New York branch in 1978 to engage in Russia-related intelligence activities. Since then, he worked as a counterintelligence agent in New York and Washington, supervising Russian spies in the United States and handling top-secret information.
