FIFA launches 2002 World Cup home page

The official Internet home page of the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea-Japan (www.FIFAworldcup.com) went into operation on Thursday.

Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the world soccer-governing body, originally opened the site on Jan. 15, 500 days before the opening of the soccer festival, but soon closed it due to a lack of content.

The site will carry content in six languages - English and French, which are the official languages of World Cup, as well as Spanish, German, Korean and Japanese.

The site not only offers information on World Cup soccer, but also will be a window for those wishing to purchase World Cup tickets. Tickets go on sale on Feb. 15.
