Offspring of wealthy families nabbed for holding `drug party¡¯

Police apprehended four adults from rich families, including a co-ed who studied abroad, Thursday on suspicion of habitually abusing drugs at ``techno¡¯¡¯ bars and inns in Sinchon and elsewhere in Seoul.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency (SMPA) took into custody a 21-year-old woman, identified as only as Bang, on suspicion of violating the Law on the Control of Narcotics and asked the court to issue arrest warrants for three others.

The four are suspected of habitually abusing ``ecstasy,¡¯¡¯ a hallucinogenic drug, and smoking marijuana.

An SMPA spokesman said that Bang and the three others allegedly held ``drug parties`` on six occasions since early October last year at inns, techno bars and their houses in Seoul.

They allegedly bought ``ecstasy¡¯¡¯ tablets from a foreigner known as a J at a techno bar in Sinchon. Bang is a permanent resident of Hong Kong and is now attending a women¡¯s university in Seoul.

The four are also suspected of smoking marijuana on several occasions. They allegedly bought the hemp from a foreigner known as P for a price of 50,000 won per gram in late November last year.

Police confirmed that all four have wealthy parents, had attended foreign schools or had lived abroad. Some of them were arrested last year on similar suspicions but were released after the suspension their indictments.
