Lee listed 89th in ATP world ranking

Top Korean pro tennis player Lee Hyung-Taek of Samsung Investment and Securities moved to 89th in the ATP world ranking Wednesday, garnering 484 points to move ahead of Martin Dam of the Czech Republic and Michael Tilstrom.

Lee was eliminated in the preliminaries of the Heineken Open last week but, thanks to his improved ranking, he won`t have to compete in the preliminary round of the Australian Open, this year¡¯s first major tournament, which begins on Jan. 15.

Lee said he would do his utmost to join the final 16 in Australia, which would stand as another milestone following his success in last year¡¯s U.S. Open, when he was also among the top 16 finishers.
