"We helped 500,000 people secure houses, thus restoring their homes and jobs," Millard Fuller, president of Habitat for Humanity International, said in a press conference in Seoul on Thursday.

Habitat is a campaign for the volunteer workers to build houses for the poor and homeless. It was launched in 1976 in the United States and has supplied about 100,000 houses in 76 countries.

In Korea, the movement was introduced in 1995, and 78 houses were built.
