Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) and the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) announced Tuesday that the first ever South-North labor unification discussions with the North Korean Chosun Trade Confederation would be held from Dec. 11 to 14 at Mt. Kumgang in the North.

In order to attend the discussions, FKTU president Lee Nam-Soon and KCTU president Dan Byung-Ho together with 40 others submitted applications to visit North Korea to the Ministry of Unification.

An official from the ministry said a decision regarding the visit would be made within this week, after officials examine the nature the meeting and proposed activities.

If approval for the visit is given, the South Korean delegation would go to North Korea on one of the Mt. Kumgang cruise ships. Discussions would be held at the Mt. Kumgang Hotel.
