World Cup tickets to be sold starting Feb.

2002 World Cup tickets will be sold to the general public beginning next Feb. 15.

The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) held a committee meeting Friday at its headquarters in Switzerland, where the decision was made to sell a total of 3,179,648 tickets for the 2002 World Cup starting Feb. 15 next year.

50% of the tickets will be sold by the FIFA¡¯s World Cup ticket sales division, while the remaining 50% will be sold by the event organizations of Korea and Japan. Korea will be selling 740,000 tickets.

Around 30% (230,000) of the tickets will be sold to the general public by the Korean Organizing Committee for the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
