A brand new computer virus, named ¡°Navidad¡± meaning Christmas in Spanish, is rapidly spreading as a warning against it posted immediately. This virus is characteristic of spreading in the attachment files of e-mails. The virus file, Navidad.exe, is being distributed through e-mails instead of the original attachment files. Therefore, computer users are most likely to open the infected mail in a casual way, misunderstanding it as normal one.
Once the computer is infected with this virus, a dialogue box showing errors appears on the window and an icon with the look of a blue eye appears in the lower part of the window. Then, the window pops up ¡°Feliz Navidad¡± meaning merry Christmas and makes a fool of the user with the phrase, ¡°You lost your computer (Lamentablemente cayo en la tentacion yperdio sucomputadora).¡±
The most serious damage is that all the ¡°exe¡± files, which are commonly used for ordering execution of computer programs, are not executed.
A spokesman for Ahnlab, Inc.said, ¡°Virus Navidad is not vicious, but the speed of its spread is too fast. The best solution is to delete all the mails with attachment files of Navidad.¡±
The anti-virus laboratories is distributing free of charge the vaccine. Computer users can download it from www.ahnlab.co.kr and www.hauri.co.kr
