U.S., Japan, S. Korea to meet on N. Korea

South Korea, the United States and Japan will hold a policy consultation meeting in Nara, Japan, on Oct. 28-29 to discuss steps for tripartite cooperation on the situation in the Korean peninsula, it was learned Monday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Officials from the three governments plan to review the developments in inter-Korean, North Korea-U.S. and North Korea-Japan relations, and to choreograph their mid- and long-term policies toward North Korea.

The three countries will be represented by Choe Yeong-Jin, director of foreign policy bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Morton Helferin, policy division chief of the U.S. State Department and Yukio Takeuchi, Japanese Foreign Ministry's director of comprehensive policy bureau.
