The government has decided to give internet training to 4 million underprivileged people by the end of this year. For this purpose, the budget for information technology education will be increased 484 percent to 74 billion won.

Next year, additional appropriations will subsidize the establishment of more Internet Plazas (training institutes) in rural townships and computer instruction for the residents of rural communities.

For small cities that lack equipment and facilities, large post offices will initially be used as the sites for IT education centers.

This year, 63 such centers will be inaugurated with grants from the central government at the request of local government offices, to be followed by 150 such centers in underprivileged areas in the coming year. The number will be further increased to 500 in rural communities.
