With a record of 2 defeats, it will be difficult for the Korean men¡¯s volleyball team to advance into the semi-quarter finals.
Despite the rallies put up by Shin Jin-Sik (19 kills) and Bang Sin-Bong (13 kills), the Korean men¡¯s volleyball team lost to Argentina by a score of 1-3 in the pool B preliminary game at the 4th Pavilion of the Olympic Park. Consequently, the team will have to win at lest 2 games in their remaining matches with Russia, Yugoslavia and the U.S., in order to advance into the semi-quarter finals.
A few minutes into the third set, the Korean team was losing 16-20 to the Antonio Milinkovich led Argentina team, but thanks to an outstanding performance by Shin Jin-Sik, adding 4 points, the team managed to make the scores even. The team even led the game by a point but started to tumble as attacks by Shin Jin-Sik and Chang Byung-Chul were blocked every time, and finally the game was lost with a score of 28-30 and a set score of 1-2.
In the fourth set, the Korean team managed the game with a score of 21-21, but started to lose ground as they lost 4 consecutive points, showing difficulties in receiving serves from the Argentina team. The Korean team will play a third match against the Russian team on September 21.
