South Korea had yet to win another medal in the second day of competition at the 2000 Sydney Olympics Sunday, but continue to cruise comfortably toward gold medals in women's archery and men's badminton.
South Korea, which made a smooth start with two silvers and one bronze, was expected to bag another medal in the women's air pistol event, but Boo Soon-Hee failed to advance to the final round, scoring only 377 points in the main rounds.
However, Korean female archers Kim Soo-Nyung, Kim Nam-Soon and Yun Mi-Jin -- all strong favorites for the gold medal -- went on a winning streak in rounds 64 and 32 in the individual event to advance to round 16.
Kim Soo-Nyung, who finished first in the ranking round the previous day, jointed the last 16 by beating Margaret Tumusime of Uganda and Melissa Jennison of Australia.
In the men's doubles badminton, the duo of Kim Dong-Moonun and Ha Tae-Kwon stopped a Malaysian team in the semi-quarterfinals to advance to the quarterfinals. Partners Lee Dong-Soo and Yoo Yong-Sung also joined the last eight.
