The Seoul District Court Friday released Kim Jae-Jung, president of the Korean Medical Association (KMA), on bail, which was set at 30 million won. Kim was arrested on charges of masterminding the ongoing doctors¡¯ walkout.
The court said that his release was attributed to the facts that the medical turmoil caused by the doctors` strike is subsiding and that it will contribute to the resolution of the medical dispute. It added that Kim will be confined to his residence.
The KMA head is on trial at the district court for leading the shutdown of 176 hospitals and clinics across the country in June. He was accused of violating laws regulating monopolies, fair trade and pharmaceutical affairs.
